An antique Colt Third model Dragoon US marked 6 shot percussion revolver. Of the three Colt Dragoon Models produced during the 1840's and 50's, the Second Model is the least common with only 2,700 produced.
It is one of the earliest Dragoons to have the improved horizontal latch on the rammer arm, which was changed in the early 17000 range. The revolver was also issued to the Army’s “Dragoon” Regiments. The person who did the defarbing/antiquing was pretty good at it, and he left the fairly low serial numbers intact so it would not be confused with an original Colt.
